Podcast Resources
What materials/resources are required for the project and why?
microphones
why is this appropriate?
We will most likely use the rode NT1A to record your podcast mostly because of its large diaphragm and with its CARDIOID polar patten helps. This is appropriate because the large diaphragm makes the sound source appear much bigger than it is giving it a more engaging and rich feeling. which fits perfectly into a podcast recording session.
what the difference between condenser and dynamic mics?
to put it in the simplest of terms, the difference is a dynamic is much better for capturing loud and strong sound (drums or loud vocals) in particular in a live setting ( concerts, events) however a condenser microphone is used to capture more delicate sounds and higher frequencies (studio vocals) particularly in a studio setting, also a dynamic mic doesn't require power whereas a condenser microphone does.
why is it important to achieve a clear recording, why shouldn't we hold the mic whilst recording?
clear and precise and accurate recordings support clinical decision making. documenting each recording patiently is crucial. its just as important to maintain the integrity of the records, records can be used in any sort of evidence show this helps in the event of an complaint or claim.
the rule is in recording is to never hold microphones during recording because it will cause unwanted noises and problems int the long run. this can cause the mic to pick up scraping clothes u could even drop the mic which won't be good it makes the mic in a fixed position will help later in the editing process.
Sound card
what is the purpose of audio interface and why do we need one?
The purpose of an audio interface? well its to make the the recording easy and get high quality recording -one of the main advantages of an audio interface is and over on board sound card. this provides greater physical size and easier accessibility, this can make a wide range of audio inputs to be built into the unit.
because to put it simply an audio interface is quite literally what you need, u need it to get soon in and out of your computer. if u want it to be a good quality recording of ur voice/voices multiple voices and instruments will let u have a simpler and mastered recording with an audio interface.
What happens if the gain is set too High or too low?
if u have the gain set too low, your amplifier will not be able to reach its potential (full power) which could allow the source unit to clip. if this happens it could leave it with a distorted signal being delivered to your speakers if u have lower than 2.5 volts this could happen to your recording.
if the gain is turned up too high, the other person might have involved will end up sounding distorted and is to difficult to even listen to. also Amp gains works the exact same way - too low the background noice will leave a hissing noise. so keep the gain at a minimum for recording.
Logic Pro x
why is it better to record using a DAW in a controlled environment, rather via online options like Zoom/Teams?
Its better because Digital audio workshops have revolutionised the way music and audio recordings are made. with the option of unlimited track counts, lighting-quick precise editing capabilities plugins. the fact that u can just jump in and start recording and mixing tracks is amazing. DAW brings the studio to ur home device wether that might be pc, computer or laptop.
