 CONTINUTITY EDITING

continutity editing is where your putting related shots create a logical shift in time instead of having wierd cuts between scenes. Thus creating continous movements in a less confusing way. The overall purpose of continutity edititing is present time moving without having drastic changes or things that would fit into the movie. 

Example

An example of this would be crosscutting. Crosscutting is where scenes go back and forth to show things happening at the same time

Non continuity editing

Non continuity editing is the complete oppostite of contuity editing. Non continuity editing is when the shots in a film are not put together in chronological order. they can also be used in scene to go back in time and is very similiar to montoge edititing.

Example

Non-continuity editing is when shots are mismatched to disrupt the impression of time and space. This draws the audiences' attention to the process of cutting and disturbs the illusion of 'reality'. An example is the use of flash backs.

Editing transitions

Editing cuts are used to cut/snip to a new scene in the movie without having an effect in place,creating a simple path to a brand new bit of film. editing cutaways are shots that leave main scenes of action to show the background.

Contrast cuts are mainly used to add to another scene. Defocusing transitions are done by adjusting the focus of a camera until the camera is no longer clear anymore. Dynamic editing cuttings are morer than one transition used to show the Editing on purpose. making this really obvious to the audience. J cuts are cuts that allow sound to be heard before a scene play out. An L- cuteis where the sound carries over onto the next shot/scene of the film

Iris transitions are circuler transitons that fade out to the our next shot to give it more depth.   An invisible cut are mainly used for scenes to seem like they have been more precise shot when in reality its 2 shots hidden with a sneaky cut or placement. Match cuts can be audio or video transitions that are also used for other parts of the scne to transition into. Final transition are wash transiitons these are similiar to Fading transiitons but they dont ever use black as thier final colour which in my opinion makes them better.
